Practice News
DISPENSARY CLOSING TIME
The dispensary closes at 6pm and you are therefore unable to collect medication after this time. This is detailed in the Prescriptions/Dispensing part of the website.
GP RETIREMENT - DR SAUL MILLER
Dr Miller will retire from the practice on the 31st December. Saul joined Glendale Surgery as a partner in 2014, taking over from Dr Charles Dean. Glendale and Cheviot Medical Group merged in 2022, at the same time forming the Lindisfarne Health Partnership with Well Close Square Surgery in Berwick, the practice now being known as Lindisfarne Health (Wooler).
The remaining partners at Wooler will be Dr Liz Batley and Dr Vikki Long.
For continuity of care, patients who currently have Dr Miller as their usual GP will be able to choose one of the other GP's in the practice to take over their care; Dr Batley, Dr Long, Dr Cockill, Dr Foley or Dr Brien.
It goes without saying that Saul is going to be a huge miss to both the team and his patients and we are pleased that he has agreed to come back as a locum GP when we need extra cover so we don’t lose him altogether.
We would like to wish him and Emma all the very best of luck for the future and here's to a very long and very happy retirement.
HEALTH AND WELLBEING CLINIC
Due to unforeseen circumstances, there will be no H&WB clinics in the near future. The Network are going out to advert in the next couple of weeks but it is unlikely that anyone will be in post and running clinics until February. We are extremely sorry as we know there are many patients who attended the clinic but it is out of our control.
HEARING AID BATTERIES AVAILABLE FROM THE SURGERY
The Freeman Hospital are once again supplying us with free hearing aid batteries which will save patients a trip to Berwick or further afield. These are available from Reception but please try to avoid calling in at busy times such as 8.30am-11am.
Continuity of Care
Patients with ongoing problems have better outcomes when looked after by the same GP. We therefore encourage patients to stick to being cared for by the same GP where practicable. Our staff will try to help our patients achieve this goal. Sometimes this may mean being asked to wait a day or two to see your regular GP if the problem is not urgent even though there might be sooner appointments with other GPs.
SURGERY CLOSED LAST THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH
We will be closed on the last Thursday of each month between 1pm and 4pm for staff meetings and training. You will not be able to collect medication during this time
If you need non urgent medical advice please call 111. In an emergency dial 999.
If you need to speak to a doctor urgently which can't wait until we resume surgery at 4pm, a mobile number will be available on our answering machine.
